[ALVISTA] 8th Issue Vol. 1. 2026SS This shirt jacket is based on a 1970s US vintage shirt and incorporates the image of the Valouse, a workwear style worn by French fishermen and naval forces for easy donning and doffing. The collar is patterned in the same way as a tailored lapel, giving it the look of a pullover jacket. The overall sizing is loose-fitting, typical of a smock, with tucks in various places to create a balance that differentiates it from a simple oversized look. Taking advantage of the characteristics of the fabric, the grain changes in various areas, adding rhythm to the overall look. The buttons are vegetable ivory made from tagua palm. The garment is pre-washed before production.
MATERIAL
100% linen
This jacquard fabric is made with French linen with a 60/2 warp and 25/1 weft. This large-pattern herringbone jacquard is even rarer than the rare linen jacquard weaves. Unlike the linen commonly available in Japan, it uses 60-ply yarns for the warp and thick 25-ply yarns for the weft, creating a more three-dimensional pattern due to the different properties of the yarns themselves. The unique color is achieved by skilled artisans who carefully dye the fabric in small batches by hand, without relying on machines, and the natural wrinkles are created by the time-consuming sun-drying process. This fabric takes the time and effort not found in mass-produced fabrics, and brings out the deep texture of linen.
