These are vintage glasses from Tart Optical Enterprises Inc. from the 1960s. Tart Optical was founded in New York in 1948 and became popular after taking advantage of the cell frame trend that began at that time, but it only lasted about half a century, so the number of glasses in the vintage market is small, and the sophisticated frames that can be said to be eternal classics are often reproduced, making them a valuable pair. These glasses are an icon among vintage glasses that appear in many movies, and are worn by model Arnel, James Dean, and Johnny Depp, who were influenced by beatnik culture. The two-tone color gives a sense of culture from around the 1950s, and the specifications give a clean look when worn and a mannish atmosphere. Both the frame and temples are large in size, so they are comfortable to wear. They have been polished at an eyeglass store. They are in good condition with sufficient moisture. New clear UV lenses have been inserted. There is no sleeve, but maintenance has been done at an eyeglass store. The temples (or rope handles) can be adjusted to the desired bend. (At your local eyeglass store) We have examined the condition carefully, but since they are vintage products, there may be scratches and scuffs. Please be aware of the characteristics of vintage and antique items before purchasing. All of our glasses are maintained and lens replaced at the g room eyeglasses store in Ebisu, Tokyo.
Lens height: 42mm
Lens width: 48mm
Bridge width: 24mm
Frame width (from temple corner to temple corner): 143mm
Temple size: 6 1/4 - actual length 15.4cm
