This is a 1952 Contract [US ARMY] Type M-1951 Parka.
A fishtail parka for extreme cold weather use by the US Ground Forces, following the predecessor M48 adopted in the 1950s.
In the 1960s, a lot of surplus goods were imported into Britain, and it became known as the mod parka, worn by young people who loved mod culture.
Compared to the later model 65 Parka, it features an integrated hood and has epaulets for a more military, rugged look.
The shell is made of crisp cotton-nylon poplin, and the aging and paint splattering that comes with age give it a unique presence.
Comes with a liner, rare small size with a sleek silhouette, zipper is not working properly.
